This was my last engagement session of the year, and it was certainly the coldest. We only made it maybe 15 minutes outside and immediately followed it up with a beer. Megan and Mike were troopers, and even though we had to cut the session short, I captured one of my favorite pictures of the year. See above :)
The weather has officially turned. Michigan autumn is a tricksy minx and we missed our super small window of not-freezing temperatures, dry sky, and pretty colors. Instead, we got one out of the three… but pretty colors are worth the chill and rain IMO.
Danielle and Alex are full of joy and laughter. They never once complained. I’m THRILLED with how their engagement pictures turned out :)
When Maria and Kristen asked me to be their wedding photographer, I wasn't sure that I could book so far out into 2019. At the time, I was pregnant with Stella and imagining work/family balance was hard. But, they cared about me equally as a person and as a professional. They encouraged my work, and embraced my family. When they asked if I could do a destination engagement session on Mackinac Island, I was excited because 1. GORGEOUS people in gorgeous places and 2. the family could come. In fact, right before this session, we all had dinner together. Maria and Kristen played with my girls and connected with my husband. I felt so loved. I really think that came to play in their engagement pictures. I felt comfortable asking them to get in the water and play. I think that they felt comfortable with me and let me see their real smiles. The images we created are full of real intimacy and joy. I'm so glad I know them.
We're on a boat!
This session was so fun. I've never been on a sailboat before, and while it was initially terrifying balancing with all of my gear (thank God for insurance), I was fascinated. Tyler and Ana are getting married at the South Haven Yacht Club, and it's going to be awesome. I'm such a fan of unique engagement sessions where the couple can really show off what they love.
PS. How presh is their puppy Zoe?
