From the Photographer:
Sometimes, it’s impossible to choose just one picture to share from a wedding day because when they are put next to each other, the story is so much more compelling. Tyler and Ana’s South Haven Wedding is one of those. Above all else, they did things their way, and I have total respect for the way that everything reflected who they are as individuals and who they are together.
Ana loves bright and bold colors. I mean, did you see her bouquet!? To honor that, I found a wall of rhododendrons to do their first look pictures in front of. The green and magenta were such a fun combination to play with.
Tyler is a super laid back dude. He’s a free spirit who would rather be sailing than doing just about anything else. That’s why they opted for a simple ceremony with only their closest friends and family, and a small but lively reception afterwards. Of course, it had to be at the South Haven Yacht Club, where Ana + Tyler’s boat (and his family’s boat) is docked.
My favorite part of the day was getting to hang out with their little doggies. It took about 45 minutes to wrangle them, but it was so worth it. I firmly believe that your wedding day should be about what is most important to you, and the fact that Tyler was picking up doo doo in his fancy suit just reminded me that we don’t have to take ourselves (or our wedding day) too seriously.
What is most important? There are certain things we should fight for: family and an authentic expression of love. There are other things we need to let go: tradition for the sake of tradition, “perfection,” and pomp. Ana and Tyler didn’t settle for something they didn’t want. They made their wedding their own, and it shows.
